I Work Out.

So, I've noticed it's time to ramp up my fitness level. When I was in Japan, I predominantly walked everywhere. I was really in shape and I loved it. Since being back in America, I've been driving everywhere. And it's not just because I'm lazy (which, admittedly, I have been), but also because a lot of cities in America are not walking friendly.

I've hit the gym a few times already, but I'm aiming to make it an every day thing. There is no better feeling than feeling good about yourself!

I heard that organic liquid chlorophyll is really good for you, so I ordered some. I'm not going to lie, I think it tastes terrible. But I bought 100% pink grapefruit juice and mixed the recommended dosage of 1 Tbsp of chlorophyll in the juice and it completely hides the taste. Yay for strong tasting juices!

I've been running an average of 2 miles when I do make it to the gym, followed by core work. I've also been buying cute workout clothes for when I go, because it makes me feel better and also guilts me into thinking if I don't use the cute workout clothes, I'm wasting money. O_o I've also got a killer playlist of workout songs that keep me going.

I know I haven't posted in such a long time. Between moving, school, and work I've really not been able to let my inner fashionista out very much. Most of my time has been predominantly spent at work and home, with my nose in a book. Finals are this week though and then I have 3 months of freedom!!

Man-ic Monday

I really want get this blog going and to have it be something that I really look forward to updating daily. I'm still going to be posting **a lot** of my OOTD (Outfit of the Day) posts, but I'm also going to be adding in new content to keep it interesting for everyone else as well. *^-^*

What exactly is Man-ic Monday? It's about...well. Men! My style crushes, what trends in menswear that I really dig (and which ones I don't), tips from a girls perspective, etc. If I happen to be wearing a really cute outfit on a Monday that is share-worthy, there may be double-posts.

To kick off the first ever Man-ic Monday, I'm going with my number one celebrity style crush. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I love his style. The boy can dress. I'm aware he most likely has a stylist. But there have been very few pictures I've seen where I haven't been in like or in love with what he was wearing.





I love when a guy actually cares about the way he looks. We all have our jeans and t-shirt days. But it seems to me that the scales are always really one-sided in that girls are supposed to be the ones to dress to impress. Take notes, gentlemen. Ladies *really* like when you look nice. ^_~ I prefer a cleaned-up trendy look. Not quite a full-on suit (Not for every day, at least), but something that shows that the guy cares about how he looks. I've come to the conclusion that I have a slight addiction to outerwear. I've just counted and I have 4 pea coats. They're all different though! I have a red one, this white one, a casual everyday black one, and a plaid one. That's not mentioning all of the other hats, mittens, scarves, jackets, vests, coats, and boots in my wardrobe either! For not being a fan of cold weather, I sure have a lot of winter wear. Brrrrrrrr! (Also, art gallery dates are the best! *^-^*)




P.S. Sorry for being MIA for awhile. I've been getting life all situated on this side of the pond. With work, school, and buying a new car (pictures soon!) I've been a busy girl. But I'll be trying my best to update regularly!!

Winter Moisturizing Tips

Winter is rushing towards the area where I live as if we are red and it's a bull. And while I love a white Christmas and all the cute boots and mittens I can wear, I'm really not a fan of the freezing cold temperatures. I'm talking -20 degrees sometimes and that is not exaggerating.

One of the things I dread most about winter is how dry the air gets. I get bloody noses (sad panda) from the air being so dry, so you can image what that can do to skin and hair as well. Winter is the time to moisturize every inch of skin in sight if you're dealing with cold weather. If you live in a cold area as well, you know exactly what I'm talking about. My moisturizing tips are:

- Take warm showers, not hot. While super steamy hot showers feel so nice during the winter, they unfortunately rob your skin of much needed moisture. Hot water causes your skin to dry out even more than the winter air does, so this is a big one that I stick to. But if you just have to have those almost scalding temperatures, try to cut down on shower time to do the least amount of self-induced skin drying.

- Moisturize as soon as you get out of the shower, when you're skin is still damp. You can towel dry and obviously don't want to be dripping wet, but if your skin is a little damp, any lotion you apply will seal that moisture into your skin. It's an easy way to get extra moisture for not much effort. To make your lotion time feel a little more luxurious, you can run the bottle under hot water for a few minutes to warm the lotion up. I slather up every inch of skin I can every time after I shower. While that's not necessary, at least 1-2 times a week should keep you at a nice, moisturized level.

- Try to moisturize your face twice a day. Once when you wake up in the morning(after washing your face), while your skin is still damp and also at night before you go to bed(after you wash your face), again while your skin is still damp. If you only wash your face once, then once is okay too. I wash twice a day, so I moisturize twice a day. Your face is braving the cold temperatures bare while the rest of your body will most likely be covered up in the cold temperatures, so making sure that it's moisturized will help to keep it from becoming windburned or chapped/peeling.

- Deep condition your hair once a week. I do this weekly anyways throughout the year, but it's due to the fact that I frequently color my hair and my hair is long. Dry winter air will suck all of the moisture out of your hair, leaving it static-y and rough feeling. You can pick up a bottle of Aussie 3-minute miracle for about $3 if you don't want to go for salon brands, and it still works really well. ^-^

- Also, if you have long hair, look into an at-home brazilian keratin treatment. They do the service in many salons as well, but it costs an upwards of $250. I've heard from some people that they've paid around $400. At-home keratin treatments are a close contestant to the salon treatments if you follow the directions. And you've got to be okay with not washing your hair for 48-72 hours, and not throwing it up in a ponytail or tucking it behind your ears during that 48-72 hours as well. Most at home treatments last 30 days. Salon treatments usually last 3 months. So it doesn't quite last as long, but it's a lot more affordable, and you can do it again as soon as the first treatment wears off. You can do at least 5 at home treatments for the price of one salon treatment. What does it do exactly? It is a godsend for your hair. It makes it silky smooth and super shiny. Ever wondered why brazilians have such beautiful hair? They actually call it cosmetic surgery for your hair! Just make sure that the one you are buying has good reviews and a list of ingredients. You can look up pretty much any cosmetic product online and check out the reviews before buying. I say this because some products are marketed as keratin products without actually containing any keratin! These treatments will not last long at all; probably only until you wash your hair one time. Usually keratin will be the third to fifth ingredient in the good ones. :] Or, if you like to splurge, go have someone in a salon pamper you for a few hours. The bonus of them doing it is that you'll usually get a scalp massage during the shampoo prior to the treatment, which is really nice during stressful holiday times!

- Last of all on moisturizing, don't forget your lips! Many people get chapped lips during the winter from the dry air, or from licking their lips because they feel dry (because of the air sucking the moisture out of them). My favorite is cherry and/or strawberry flavored carmex. I even use it as a base underneath lip gloss/lipstick. It costs next to nothing, doesn't take more than 5 seconds to apply and can easily stop painful chapped lips from occurring.

The majority of this outfit was thrifted, which proves that you don't have to pay an insane amount to put an entire outfit together. I love going to thrift stores to find clothes. It's like a treasure hunt everytime! And it's almost guaranteed that you won't see a bunch of other people wearing the same items as you. Shopping in vintage and thrift stores is easy on the wallet too, for any of you whose wardrobes may be begging to be updated. I'm not saying you'll always find stuff that you want; I walk away empty handed plenty of times. But when you can score a cute dress or accessory for a fraction of what it would originally be, it kind of makes your day!
